✨ A two-phase clarifying mask activator for congested and acne-prone skin — designed to be sprayed over the set Charcoal Milk Clarifying Mask to trigger a layered acid-exfoliation finish that clay alone can't deliver.

🧪 The activator's PHA/AHA dual-acid blend — lactobionic acid paired with lactic acid — brings controlled exfoliation to the treatment without the irritation risk of straight AHA systems. Bamboo charcoal and kaolin clay drive pore decongestion from below; olive squalane simultaneously reinforces the moisture barrier, keeping the experience balanced even on sensitized skin. That combination makes this a practical fit across a wide client roster, not just oilier types.

The two-phase format gives you a meaningful clinical edge: you control processing time before the acid step lands, so you can calibrate intensity per client sensitivity. Clients who respond well are natural candidates for a retail PHA or lactic acid follow-up between appointments.

For practices building out active facial protocols for congested-skin clients who aren't yet ready for stronger peels.

Benefits

  • Deep Pore Cleansing and Decongestion: Bamboo charcoal and kaolin clay work together to adsorb excess oil, draw out surface impurities, and help reduce the appearance of clogged pores — making this system particularly effective for acne-prone or congested skin.
  • Gentle Dual-Acid Exfoliation: The combination of lactobionic acid (a large-molecule polyhydroxy acid) and lactic acid (an alpha-hydroxy acid) delivers layered surface exfoliation. The PHA works more slowly and with less potential for irritation, making the blend suitable for sensitized or compromised skin alongside standard exfoliation needs.
  • Barrier-Supportive Hydration: Olive squalane helps reduce transepidermal water loss and reinforces the skin's natural moisture barrier, counterbalancing the dehydrating potential of clay and acid actives within the same treatment.
  • Suitable for All Skin Types: The inclusion of a PHA rather than a standard AHA alone, combined with barrier-supportive squalane, allows this clarifying system to be used across skin types — including those that may not tolerate stronger acid exfoliants.

Active ingredients

Bamboo Charcoal - known as Bamboo Charcoal: Adsorbs excess sebum, surface impurities, and bacteria from the skin surface, helping to decongest pores and reduce acne-causing microorganisms during the mask processing phase.: Adsorbs excess sebum, surface impurities, and bacteria from the skin surface, helping to decongest pores and reduce acne-causing microorganisms during the mask processing phase.

Kaolin Clay - known as Kaolin Clay: Absorbs excess oil and draws out skin impurities from the pore environment without disrupting the skin surface, supporting the mask's pore-clarifying and acne-control function.: Absorbs excess oil and draws out skin impurities from the pore environment without disrupting the skin surface, supporting the mask's pore-clarifying and acne-control function.

Lactobionic Acid — Polyhydroxy Acid (PHA) Exfoliant: A large-molecule polyhydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin surface more slowly than AHAs, making it suitable for sensitized or compromised skin. Also provides surface hydration and antioxidant defense against free radicals.: A large-molecule polyhydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin surface more slowly than AHAs, making it suitable for sensitized or compromised skin. Lactic Acid — AHA Exfoliant and Brightener: An alpha-hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin surface, helps improve the appearance of uneven tone, and supports surface hydration through its humectant properties.: An alpha-hydroxy acid that exfoliates the skin surface, helps improve the appearance of uneven tone, and supports surface hydration through its humectant properties.

Squalane (Olive-Derived) — known as Olive Squalane: An emollient that closely mimics the skin's natural lipids. Reduces transepidermal water loss and supports the skin's moisture barrier, counterbalancing the drying potential of clay and acid actives in the same formula.: An emollient that closely mimics the skin's natural lipids. How to use

  1. Apply the Charcoal Milk Clarifying Mask to the client's face according to that product's directions and allow it to process for the desired amount of time.
  2. Once the mask has completed its processing time, instruct the client to close their eyes.
  3. Hold the activator bottle approximately 15–20 cm from the client's face and dispense 3–5 sprays evenly over the surface of the mask, avoiding the eye area.
  4. With gloved hands, lightly massage the activator into the mask in gentle circular motions for 1 minute.
  5. Remove all product thoroughly using a warm, damp towel or 4×4 gauze pads, working outward from the center of the face.
  6. Proceed with post-treatment protocol appropriate to the client's skin type and service plan.

Service notes for acne and congested-skin clients

The two-phase activation format — mask set first, activator applied last — allows the practitioner to tailor processing time per client sensitivity before introducing the acid-activation step. For first-time clients or those with active sensitivity, start with the lower end of the mask's processing window before applying the activator. The activator's PHA/AHA blend positions this service as an appropriate stepping-stone for clients transitioning from basic extractions-only facials toward more active exfoliation protocols. This is a natural retail conversation moment: clients who respond well to the in-clinic dual-acid clarifying system are strong candidates for a take-home PHA or lactic acid product to maintain results between appointments.
